Pudong New Zone hosts the 4th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Networks

NIIDZ: Shanghai Zhangjiang

Recently, 43 computing experts from China and 19 other countries, including from the United States, Canada, Sweden and Taiwan, visited Shanghai for the 4th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Networks.

Institutions visited within the Shanghai Zhangjiang National Independent Innovation Demonstrator Zone:

Shanghai Supercomputer Center 上海超算计算中心
Shanghai Integrated Circuit Museum 上海集成电路科技馆
Shanghai Pudong Software Park 上海浦东软件园

Eric Wong, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas, thinks that many technologies and products of zone companies have already surpassed international levels, and is fully confident in the innovative vigor of Zhangjiang area science and technology.

The Zhangjiang Area is a National High Technology Development Zone (国家级高科技园区) and a Natonal Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone (国家自主创新示范区). Over the 20 years of its development, this area aggregates almost 20,000 high tech companies. Established in July 1992, the National High Tech Development Zone has a total area of 250,000 sq km. In 1999, Shanghai implemented the "Focus Zhangjiang" strategy. In 2006, the Shanghai High Technology Industry Development Zone (上海高新技术产业开发区) was renamed the Shanghai Zhanjiang High Technology Industry Development Zone (上海张江高新技术产业开发区) and the Shanghai Zhangjiang High Tech Park became a core park. In November 2011, the Shanghai City government expanded the area of the Shanghai Zhangjiang High Tech Park to a total of 759,000 sq km. Its major districts are  north and central districts of the Shanghai Zhangjiang High Tech Park, Zhangjiang South District, Pudong Kangqiao Industrial Zone, Shanghai International Medical Zone, Pudong Hejing Industrial Park, Zhangjiang Optoelectronics Manufacturing Zone, and the Bank Card Industrial Park (银行卡产业园).
